HOW ARE PRACTITIONERS REGULATED?

Graduates Holding Diplomas

Chiropractors and Osteopaths complete five years full-time study, a three-year science degree followed by a two-year post-graduate master’s degree in either Chiropractic or Osteopathy.

Chiropractors and Osteopaths spend twelve months under supervision in an out-patients clinic before they are eligible for registration with the Chiropractic Board of Australia or the Osteopathic Board of Australia and practitioners must obtain a Medicare number in order to practice.

Some practitioners have double qualifications in both Chiropractic and Osteopathy and will have Medicare numbers for each modality. All practicing Chiropractors and Osteopaths must be registered and must complete the required ongoing education annually through approved courses and seminars to upgrade and improve their skills and to stay current with the latest scientific research to stay current to maintain their registration.
