CHIROPRACTIC

chiro in sydney

A definition describes Chiropractic as the art, science and philosophy which recognises the importance of the relationship between the musculo-skeletoal structure and the nervous system in disease, and which by manipulation, adjustment or other physical means, establishes the integrity of such a relationship and utilizes the inherent recuperative powers of the body in the restoration and maintenance of health.

Chiropractic clinical results have been most dramatic in conditions involving pain syndromes of the musculoskeletal system, such as pain in the neck, shoulders, arms, back and legs, neuralgia, bursitis, disc syndrome and arthritis. However that chiropractic procedures may be effective in caring for headaches, asthma, digestive and circulatory disturbances and other functional disorders within the body. The Chiropractor must look at all factors which can directly or indirectly influence the integrating role of the nervous system. The Chiropractor is trained to recognise these factors and their effects on the body, whether they be postural, traumatic, dietary or environmental.

Chiropractic treatment may involve the following:

  • Specific adjustive therapy to correct anatomical disrelationships of the musculo-skeletal system.

  • Dietary advice and nutritional correction, for the restoration of optimum biochemical conditions in the body, so permitting normal nerve activity.

  • Exercise and postural advice to assist in maintaining the musculoskeletal system.

  • Supportive physical measures such as electrotherapy, heat, ice and orthopaedic aids, where such means may be useful in maintaining the chiropractic correction.
