Chiropractors and Osteopaths are government registered primary care practitioners, therefore, a referral is not necessary for treatment, nor needed to make a claim against your private health fund.

 

However, under the Australian Government’s Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program a rebate is available from Medicare for a limited number of Chiropractic and Osteopathic treatments and for this a referral from your GP with the appropriate referral documentation is essential.
